The renovation was financed by Operation Orphan, Ann and Terry Carpenter through the Kings Village and with support from the District Assembly.

The Rev Ben Owusu-Sekyere, President of Kings Village speaking at the handing over ceremony, said the sponsors who visited the area in 2011 were touched by the plight of the residents, especially expectant mothers and children, who were unable to access healthcare.

He said on their return to United Kingdom, they shared the story with family, children, friends and associates and got funds in 2014 to renovate the facility.

Rev. Owusu-Sekyere said due to low cost recovery among the socially disadvantaged area, individuals were not attracted to privately built health facilities with modern equipment.

He added ?Health workers and other professionals also find it difficult to work in such areas because of lack of basic social and health amenities. This is the trend the Kings Village seeks to reverse.?

Rev. Owusu-Sekyere said the management of the facility would continue to work with the district assembly and other development partners to help improve the livelihood of local people and also empower them to reduce poverty.
