Botched Ghana friendly: Nigeria turns attention to Ivory Coast, South Africa

Ghana wont play Nigeria in the friendly

THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has opened talks with Cote d?Ivoire and South Africa in its search for a replacement to Ghana, which earlier scheduled friendly with Super Eagles was cancelled by world football governing body, FIFA, reports SL10.ng.

FIFA cancelled the proposed international friendly duel between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana this month in London, saying it is against their regulations for a country to play two games across two continents in three days.

The NFF had earlier announced that the Super Eagles would play Bolivia on March 26 in Uyo, and then take on the Black Stars on 29 March in London, but the friendly has now been scuttled.

This means that the Ghana Football Association can now consider proposals from other nations, who are interested in playing the Black Stars on the said date.

The NFF, on the other hand, has opened discussions with South Africa and Cote d?Ivoire to see the possibility of playing a game on the same date proposed earlier.

Unlike the aborted game with Ghana, which was expected to take place in London, the tie against South Africa or Cote d?Ivoire will take place in Africa to stay in line with FIFA rules on friendly games.

The NFF is expected to announce the team to replace Ghana before the end of this week.
