THE GOASO Circuit Court, presided over by Osei Kwame Gyamfi, has convicted the two sisters who assaulted a female teacher at the Gambia No.2 D/A Primary School in the Asutifi North District of the Brong-Ahafo Region.

The sisters, Lydia Antwi, 24 and Beatrice Amponsah, 26, were found guilty of all three charges of assault, causing harm and conspiracy to commit crime, and were accordingly sentenced by the court on August 14, 2014.

The court subsequently ordered the convicts to compensate the victim, Regina Pokuaa, with the sum of GH?1,200 and also pay a fine of GH?720 to the court within two weeks and that in default they would be imprisoned for three months.

It will be recalled that the two ladies subjected the 26-year-old Class Three female teacher to severe beatings on Friday, March 21, 2014, during official hours.

The convicts in the process, stripped the young teacher naked in the presence of her colleague teachers as well as the pupils and nearly damaged her right eye after they had dragged her on the floor, hitting her head on the wall.

The convicts claimed that the teacher had beaten their younger brother ? a Class Six pupil ? during a brawl the day before.

Ms. Pokuaa was hospitalized after the attack and currently undergoes regular medical treatment for the injuries she sustained in the attack.

She indicated to DAILY GUIDE that although she was not happy with the court verdict, she had taken it in good faith.

According to Ms. Pokuaa, her right eye continuous to trouble her as the assault had resulted in chronic headache.

The young traumatized female teacher has now been transferred from the community to Kenyasi No.2.
