The demonstrators numbering over 200 with red bands on their hands held placards of which some read ‘you are killing our school, St Dominic is not yours, action now!, among others amidst chanting war songs through the municipal streets of the town to the premises of the school.
According to the leader of the demonstrators, Nana Abankwah Ansong, the Nkowasoafourhene of the town stated that, the school was having a total population of over 900 but with the poor leadership of the headmaster it had now reduced drastically to 270.
He further revealed that, since the headmaster is not in good terms with the teachers most of them feel insecure hence bringing academic performance down.
“We the opinion leaders will not sit aloof for the headmaster to destroy the school we Nananom and the community had toiled to establish”, he fumed.
Nana Abankwah stressed that, the headmaster’s indiscipline management had affected the school negatively thereby making students to performance poor.
However, Nana noted that, the headmaster had taken in charge of everything including the buying of foodstuffs for the school dinning ignoring the matron.
Again, he disclosed that, the headmaster had unlawfully dissolved the school’s P.T.A and the Board without any proper reason.
These and many other charges the community members fume about and to this end, calling on the authorities concerned as a matter of urgency to transfer Mr. Boafo to enable a new person who has vision to take over the school to bring new ideas and plans to improve it.
Nana Abankwah further urged all parents and guardians not to be scared with the demonstration since the action was to fight for the betterment of the school.
He, had therefore, called on the general public to bring their wards to the school since there are vacancies?.
When contacted, the headmaster of the school, Mr. Boafo declined commenting on the matter.
