Queen Mother Sabotages School Feeding Program.

wpid-School-Feeding.jpgThe Queen mother of Asuboi in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region, Nana Yaa Asantewaa has been accused by people of the town of using her authority as a traditional ruler to disrupt the School Feeding Program currently going on the town.

According to information received from the town by this paper, the Queen mother, since her enstoolment about seven months ago has made all attempt to take over the building at the Presbyterian school in the town in which the school feeding program is undertaking. According to the information, Nana Yaa Asantewaa claims the building belongs to her royal family, and as such she has every right to demanding it back. Speaking with The Moment, the matron of the School Feeding Program Ms. Mary Agoh hinted that she had never find peace with the Queen mother since the current political administration took over from the previous one. She disclosed that Nana Yaa Asantewaa, with the support of her nephew, one Kwaku Ayeh have on many occasions asked the school to stop using the building for the program because it is the property of the royal family. According to the matron, the persistent threat by Kwaku Ayeh has put her in a state of fear. She hinted that it has been the encouragement of the Assembly Member for the Area, Mr Kwaku Afari that the program is still on-going to cater from less endowed homes in the town. She described the School Feeding Program as a noble idea that has helped put a lot of children who would have been out of school because their parents could not provide launch for them in school. The matron hinted that for fear of been attacked one day and the food stuffs destroyed as a result of the attitude of Kwaku Ayeh, she decided to keep the food stuffs in her house to avoid any unforeseen circumstance in the future.
