A few days after the federation appointed Mkwasa as head coach and Hemed Morocco his assistant, sports stakeholders have embraced the decision and promised to fully support the technical bench staff unveiled by Mkwasa on Wednesday.

Mkwasa and Morocco have been tasked to guide the team in the 2016 African Nations Cup (CHAN) and 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Among the coaches who have been impressed by the move is Juma Mwambusi, who said the decision shows TFF has now decided to trust local coaches.

?I?m impressed with the TFF decision of turning to local expertise after relying too much on foreign coaches and ignoring the locals who are capable of doing even much better than the foreigners,? the Mbeya City coach said.

His views were supported by Mrage Kabange, former Kagera Sugar assistant coach who has joined newly promoted African Sports of Tanga.

Kabange described TFF?s decision as a timely move that will give the locals more confident to display their skills and capabilities. Veteran track and field coach Samuel Tupa commended TFF?s decision, saying it is incredible and it might bring an end to too much dependence on foreign experts while ignoring the ability of local coaches.

He urged Tanzanians, who have been snubbing Taifa Stars for frequent poor results to be patient and give the newly appointed coaches time to re-organise the team.

Former Stars captain Ally Mayay acknowledged the appointments, saying the federation has opened a new chapter in the country?s soccer annals by having faith in local coaches whom it has ignored for some time.

Meanwhile, MWAJUMA JUMA reports from Zanzibar that Morocco has said being Taifa Stars assistant coach will not affect his job as Mafunzo head coach.

Speaking on arrival from Dar es Salaam he said his responsibilities with the national team will not make him fail to handle properly Mafunzo, who will represent Zanzibar in next year?s CAF Champions League.
