Programmes to reach poorest families in Ghana launched

UNICEF Ghana, in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, is to launch a new Monitoring and Evaluation Systems (M&E) for social protection.

The Monitoring and Evaluation System has been developed for the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme.

In a statement to the Ghana News Agency Ms Sarah Hague, Chief Advocacy, Communication, Monitoring and Analysis, explained that UNICEF and the Gender Ministry aimed at establishing the importance of setting frameworks for all social protection interventions.

It also seeks to ensure the effectiveness of programmes that intends to reach the poorest families in Ghana.

The system, to be launched, has been designed with support of UNICEF (USAID Funding) and the Oxford Policy Management Institute (OPM), who have worked closely with the LEAP team and other stakeholders throughout 2013.
