Politicians Warned To Avoid Foul Language In Campaigns

Borno State Commissioner of Police CP Clement Adora has warned borno state politicians not to carry out their respective political electioneering campaigns in the state using foul language or abusive words.
He also charged the politicians to conduct their electioneering campaigns devoid of personal attacks on opponents or any political party candidate or rival political parties in the society or at the Internally Displaced Persons IDPs camps within and outside the Ustaz capital Maiduguri.

Addressing all political party leaders in brink state at the conference hall of the borno police command Wednesday yesterday , the police commissioner further said that the Inspector General of Police IGP Suleiman Abba has directed all the state commanding officers of the police across the country to inform the politicians and cautioned them that politicians should no be directive on anybody or trash politicians or launch any attack on the personality of any candidate or politician.
He also pointed out that such foul language or abusive words will lead to violence or political crisis which the security agencies in the state condemned in all its ramifications.

The CP reminded the politicians of the need to conduct the forthcoming general elections peacefully hence the state is already battling with the security challenges in the face of the prevailing boko haram insurgency.

Adora assured also that police will not relent on its efforts to ensure hitch free and peaceful election in the next 40 days to come as all police formations have been briefed and founded on his best to provide adequate security during the said elections within and outside the state capital Maiduguri.
He has earlier noted that the essence of addressing the politicians ahead of the forthcoming elections was to sensitize the politicians and bring sanity in the whole electoral process.
He further urged them to play the game according to the rules of the game and operate as a unifying force while police as an arbiter will the rest to maintain peace.

“Your ambition should not over ride the conduct of the election. We need to caution ourselves particularly in using foul language during campaigns and elections. Police is to enforce the law and will not hesitate to penalize anybody found wanting in disrupting peace or causing any violence. We can not fold our arms and allow such to happen or anybody to cause any violence”, Adora said.
“I appeal to you to maintain the status quo. Lay your arms to maintain the law. Politics is not a do or die affair. Politics is a game of winner or loser not dead. We should be seen to be playing politics of brotherliness. Politics of brotherliness should be practiced and upheld. We are prepare to provide adequate security during your campaigns and elections but you have to maintain the law and obey constituted authorities, allow peace to reign then we on our side we will do our job properly. And where the military intervention is required we will not hesitate to invite them hence our job is a complementary one”, Clement added.
