A leading promoter of the GMO Plant Breeder?s Bill Dr Abu Sakara, the immediate past Presidential candidate of the Nkrumahist Socialist Party, the Convention People?s Party (CPP) said his political ambition and ideologies are different from his profession.

Dr Abu Sakara

This came about as the GMO Plant Breeder?s Bill currently at passing stage has encountered stiff opposition from Ghanaians of all walks and especially from the CPP which Dr Sakara is supposed to be a member.

The CPP led by its charismatic leader Ms Samia Nkrumah, a daughter of Ghana?s first president Dr Nkrumah has publicly declared its opposition to the GMO bill with Food Sovereignty Ghana (FSG) and has met the Parliamentary select committee to strongly oppose and recommend that the Bill as it stands now is not in favour of the ordinary Ghanaian and should not be passed.

Until recently Dr Sakara, an agronomist was not known to be a GMO sympathiser but since his party the CPP publicly came out to oppose the bill in a news conference in Accra, he has been all over the place labelling all anti-GMO campaigners as ignorant and being sponsored by enemies of the state.

Dr Sakara has been moving from one media house to another promoting the GMO bill which has angered most of his party members as a stab in the back of what he professes politically and also not doing same during the election campaign which gave the party its worse ever results in its history.

The CPP is the only know Socialist Political party in Ghana founded by Dr Nkrumah to fight for the independence of Ghana and for the total liberation and unification of Africa.

The CPP believes in Ghanaians managing their own affairs and resisting Neo-Colonialism as an intrusion and the continuation of colonialism of the African and most members do not understand why Dr Sakara has suddenly become a defender and spokesperson for neo-colonialist domination of biotech multinationals.
