The Saltpond District Police Command in the Central Region, over the weekend, arrested three people with 25 sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The suspects are Kojo Acquah, 42, Kweku Acquah, 26, and Kwame Emmanuel, 29, from Half Assini in the Western Region.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE on Sunday, the District Police Commander, DSP David Ashong, said the suspects were arrested at Biriwa around 2:00pm on Saturday and would be sent to the CID Headquarters in Accra on Monday for interrogation.

DSP Ashong stated that his outfit had information that the three were preparing to transport the 25 sacks of Indian hemp to Ivory Coast by sea.

The police boss pointed out that he dispatched his men to a house at Biriwa, where upon a thorough search they found 25 sacks of Indian hemp in a room.

He said the suspects were arrested together with the goods when they attempted the bribe the police with an amount of GH?10,000 where they refused and embarked on their action.

The police commander hinted that the suspects would have made an amount of GH?200,000 if they had sold the substance.
