People of Apollonia asked to ignore media reports

Nii Nuertey Amobi II, Apollonia Mantse, has appealed to the people of Apollonia to ignore some media reports questioning his legibility as the lawful chief of Appollonia.
JournalistsMr Joseph Akwerteh Tettey, Spokesperson for Nii Nuertey Amobi, told journalists that the Apollonia Mantse was nominated, selected, confined and installed as the chief of Apollonia in accordance with the customs and traditions of Apollonia and the Kpone Traditional Area.
Mr Tettey said his installment followed the death of Nii Tei Adumuah II.
He said Nii Nuertey Amobi II’s installation as the chief of Apollonia also conform to the legal requirements as laid down in the provision of the declaration of customary law (Kpone ) Traditional Council (L.I. 1982.
A writ filed with the Judicial Committee of Kpone Traditional Council to nullify Nii Nuertey Amobi’s installation had earlier been dismissed on the grounds that “it did not conform with requirements prescribed in Regulation 4 rule (b) of the chieftaincy (proceedings and functions ( (Traditional Councils) Regulation 1972 (LI798).
The writ was filled by Nii Iddrisu Mansro, Seth Gblie Nartey and Seth Affum.
A copy of the ruling dated October 10, 2014 made available to the Ghana News Agency showed that the plaintiffs on March 12 filed the suit seeking a declaration “that the purported nomination, election or selection and enstoolment or installation of the first defendant as the Chief of Appolonia is null and void “.
