Chieftain of All Progressives Congress in Abia State, Barr. Nath Ikeocha has described the current crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as consequence of absence of internal democracy in the party.

Ikeocha in an interview with news men in Aba, Abia State said that the party refused to abide by rules and principles of democracy in their choice of officers and candidates.

?They enthroned mediocrity over merit and instituted disrespect, disregard and insult of past leaders,? he said.

The legal practitioner continued:? They are enjoying the consequence of absence of internal democracy and reaping the benefit of imposition of unpopular and foul officers and candidates.?

?When some of them were at the top and midwife the nasty Electoral Act 2006, they least expected to find themselves so soon in the opposition,? Ikeocha said.

According to him, the splintering of PDP is a welcome development for democracy in Nigeria.

?It is a bitter experience which APC must avoid. APC must learn from the experience of PDP and ensure due respect to its constitution, internal democracy and strict adherence to her motto.

?I am proud that APC is already showing true commitment to change and democracy as witnessed in Anambra gubernatorial primaries.

?I urge all Nigerians, especially the oppressed people of Abia State, to join APC and make themselves agents of true change,? Ikeocha said.
