A former People?s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirant in Jigawa State, Arch. Aminu Kani, alongside over 5000 party supporters across the Hadejia Emirate, have announced their defection from the ruling PDP to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Kani, who contested with four others and was the first PDP aspirant to agree in principle to withdraw for Aminu Ringim, denied that his defection was masterminded by his former party, saying his defection was based on principle, and that he believed in principle and a committed party.

Signing his membership registration with the APC, Kani stated: ?My conviction in dumping the PDP was informed by the lack of internal democracy in the party, couple with confronting problems yet unsettled due to personal greed, selfishness and high degree of impunity. These flaws are far beyond my belief and contrary to my political ideology and credibility.?

He further stated that ?as a true democrat, I will want to join a political party whose philosophy will be based on integrity, selfless service to humanity for the overall interest of both the governor and the governed, hence my resolve to embrace the APC.

?If you are talking about integrity, you are refering to the All Progressives Congress,? he declared. According to Arch. Kani, frustration and impunity were the least of the forces that forced him to opt out of the PDP. ?For example, when I signified my interest in contesting the number one seat along with three others, we were all denied the nomination forms, for the simple reasons that the Governor Lamido-led PDP government had concluded plans to anointed Aminu Ringim as a consensus candidate, thereby forcing me to step down.?
