Alhaji Dr. Yusuf Adamu Al-Hassan, the Medical Superintendent, said inadequate housing for nurses and other health professionals posted to the hospital was affecting its performance.
Making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency (GNA), he said the situation, where critical medical staff lived far apart and a distance away from the facility did not make for prompt response to emergencies.
Again, that presents a security concern and he spoke of instances where some nurses have had their rooms broken into and their valuables stolen.
Alhaji Dr Al-Hassan said stakeholders including the Health Ministry, Ghana Health Service, the district assembly, individuals and organizations needed to work together to build more structures to house the workers.
He said this must be seen as a priority to significantly help to enhance the quality of healthcare.
He thanked Milicom Ghana, one of the leading telecommunication companies in the country, for completing and furnishing the hospital?s Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Centre.
The company, which operates the Tigo network, stepped in after the project had been left abandoned because of funding constraints.
He also gave high marks to the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr. Isaac Asiamah, for constructing a maternity block for the facility.
