Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) disclosed on Thursday that 30,000 of its officers have been deployed nationwide to beef up security during Sallah celebrations.

Dr Ade Abolurin, the Commandant-General explained that the officers were deployed to guarantee peace and security of the people?s lives and properties during the festivity adding that the NSCDC was on the alert and ready to deal with any individual or group that might constitute a threat or nuisance to others during the celebration.

?We are always prepared to work for the stability and peaceful co-existence of Nigerians; our men have been deployed to even villages to ensure that people are safe,?? he added.

Abolurin paraded Jennifer Osuagu, a 29-year-old lady from Udi in Enugu State, for her alleged involvement in job racketeering.

He said that the suspect allegedly connived with Obase, who had yet to be apprehended, to collect more than N120,000 from persons under the guise of securing employment for them in various government agencies.

He said that investigations by the NSCDC revealed that Osuagu collected between N10,000 and N50,000 from her victims for jobs in NSCDC, Customs, Nigeria Immigration and Prison Services.

Abolurin said that the suspect also used the names of prominent Nigerians to hoodwink gullible victims into paying money for jobs.

Osuagu, who spoke to journalist, stated that she was recruited by Obase who claimed to have connections with the agencies.

She alleged that those who submitted names for the employment racket made payments directly to Obase who, in turn, gave her a certain percentage.
