Even though he has been quoted by the nation?s largest circulating newspaper, The Daily Graphic, Monday, to be at a loss of a planned meeting yesterday by NPP regional chairmen to pass a vote of no confidence in him and the party?s General Secretary, and with threats of the matter ending up in court, The aL-hAJJ can confirm that the days of Mr Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyei Agyapong at the helm of NPP affairs are numbered.

Having reached a point where they can no longer parry the crude plots by fanatics of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to get them out of office even before their tenure come to an end, The aL-hAJJ has it on authority that the embattled National Chairman and General Secretary of the opposition NPP would jump ship any time soon.

Mr Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong, who have seen no peace since they emerged victorious in the April 12, 2014, Tamale congress of the NPP, The aL-hAJJ has gathered, are prepared to resign their positions but for the present chaotic situation the party finds itself.

Although the 2016 flag bearer of the NPP and his henchmen have been unsuccessful in their bid to push the duo out of the Asylum Down headquarters of the party, this paper?s intelligence revealed, Nana Akufo-Addo and his loyalists in the party may have their bread buttered in the coming days as Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong plan succumbing to what they have been craving for.

However, deep throat party sources told The aL-hAJJ that some kingpins of the NPP including majority members of the Council of Elders of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo family are prevailing on the two accused and labeled anti-Akufo-Addo executives not to take such painful decision.

Party insiders disclosed to this paper that elders of the party kicking against the resignation of the two are of the opinion that such a decision now, will not only blight the party?s chances going into the 2016 polls, but could also lead to its break up as happened in 1979 when the United National Convention was carved out of the Popular Front Party, forebears of NPP.

Even before the duo announce their exit, Nana Akufo-Addo and his men, sources revealed to this paper, are using members of the council of elders neck deep in this plot and regional executives, to ask Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong to step aside pending investigations into the death of the Upper East regional chairman.

A self appointed spokesperson for the Council of Elders, Dr Barfour Adjei Bawuah, a known Akufo-Addo loyalist, was reported to have said the council will determine the fate of the two tormented national executives at an emergency meeting this week.

Signaling what the twice failed flag bearer of party and his linchpins intend using the council of elders to do, Dr Adjei Bawuah revealed that it is possible that the Council, having regards for all the facts, may uphold the calls for the two leaders to step aside.

But very dependable sources close to the council of elders and top party gurus including, ex-President Kufuor, have told The aL-hAJJ that they will block that dangerous move as they are said to be doing everything possible to get Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong to rescind their decision on resigning their respective positions.

But sources at the Nima residence of the twice defeated presidential candidate of the NPP hinted this paper that linchpins of Nana Akufo-Addo are fervently relishing a day the National Chairman and General Secretary will announce their resignation.

To them, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong have outlived their stay in office, therefore there was the need to get them out and installed their deputies, in this case Freddie Blay and Nana Obiri Boahene, respectively, who are both Akufo-Addo lapdogs, to takeover.

Reports are that Freddie Blay, who is using his newspaper, Daily Guide, to court bad image for Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong, is bracing up to step into the shoes of his National Chairman.

Perhaps, this explained why, despite being Akan from the Nzema area in Western region, Freddie Blay wore white apparel to the funeral of Mahama Adams.

And only yesterday, it was reported that regional chairmen of the party planned a meeting to pass a vote of no confidence in the party?s National Chairman, Mr Paul Afoko, and the General Secretary, Mr Kwabena Agyepong.

The emergency regional congresses aimed at rallying support for the ousting of the two national executive members, according to some close sources of the party, were allegedly being instigated by the party?s flag-bearer, Nana Akufo Addo, according to Daily Graphic.

Prior to the April 12, 2014 national delegates? conference of the NPP, news went viral that Nana Akufo-Addo had tasked all delegates to ensure Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong are not elected. His reasons are that he (Nana Akufo-Addo) cannot work with them.

Despite this admonishing, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong went ahead to beat Nana Akufo-Addo?s preferred candidates, Fred Oware and Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie.

Since then there has been several attempts by Nana Akufo-Addo and his surrogates to oust Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong. Having realized their plot to frustrate their stay in office in order to push them to resign was not yielding results, they resorted to hiding behind some constituency executives in the Ashanti region to get the embattled National Chairman and his General Secretary jailed for contempt.

This wicked and unorthodox plot, sources say, was spearheaded by some regional chairmen, notably amongst them, the Northern regional chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu? and Ashanti region Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi.

But to their utter dismay and embarrassment, these cunning but wicked schemes have all failed.

Nonetheless, the unfortunate and untimely murder of the party?s upper East Regional Chairman, the late Mahama Adams by assailants suspected to be of the NPP stock seemed to have presented the pro-Akufo Addo faction with a justification to finally realize their dream of pushing the shrewd National Chairman and smart General Secretary out.

Mahama Adams had acid poured on him by two assailants last week Wednesday and was confirmed dead the following day at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital. He has since been buried according to his Islamic faith and tradition.

Leading the operation get Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong out is a latter-day Akufo-Addo loyalist, Ayisi Boateng, who set the ball rolling by immediately demanding that Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong step aside for investigation into the death of their regional chairman to continue.

This campaigned was intensified by NPP legislator for Assin Central and a self-acclaimed financier of the party, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong and other NPP choreographed groups, calling for the heads of the two most abused national officers.

But other party stalwarts, including founder member of the party and member of the council of elders, Mr Akenten Appiah Menka and the immediate past National Chairman, Mr Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey have rejected such calls.

According to Appiah Menka, who is a senior member of the NPP in its stronghold of Ashanti region, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong cannot resign on the basis of suspicions that they have something?to do with the death of the Upper East regional chairman.

Meanwhile, The aL-hAJJ sources close to the two embattled national officers noted that they have planned that when the murky situation normalizes, they will quit ?if that will satisfy the Akufo Addo faction who have made their stay in office so far hell.?
