…. And Ignore The Media Headlines

The New Patriotic Party the main opposition party roles and agenda to win power come December 6th 2016 can only yield a victory if the party start it right and ignore media headlines with unsubstantiated statements without facts on issues but just to make radio and print newspaper headlines. The NPP as a party has lost the passion and new selfless dynamics in organizing the party machinery which used to work to win 2000 election for the former president Kuffour who govern for eight years.

The mistake of continuity to build on the past strength and weaknesses was ignore by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, with his political track records as veteran politician in Ghana politics and his team thinks he can do it without the success story of the former president John Agyekum Kuffour.

There is high tendency of self made posturing on the part of the Nana Addo when he won the race to lead the party for the two terms as the leader of the NPP, but lost to the late Prof. Mills and John Dramani Mahamah. The leadership of the NPP and the strategy of the NPP are still warming up to lose the 2016 election. The new dynamics of the NPP communication machinery is very stale and ineffective to make a positive impact in painting a winning picture in the minds of the potential voter more especially the floating voters.

The caveat surrounding the flagbearership race seems to be communicated and been brand by all top brands of the party as if, is only Nana Addo who is going for the contest. The democratic tenets of creating a leveling platform for all contestants in all electoral competition is missing in the NPP flag bearer race. The political atmosphere surrounding the internal NPP flag bearer primary race can best be described as one man contest with high tension of factionalism based on blocks and personal interest.

The cracks among the new executives and National Executive Committee/Council (NEC) is much to desire been considered as one of the major setbacks and an internal dagger that is likely going to destroy the communication strategy of the party. The directive by the general secretary Kwabena Agyepong in recomposing the communication machinery of the party, has just spark another administrative lapses and chaotic situation where the struggle for power and who controls the party is emerging on the lines of old tradition of Nana and Allan faction.

The media reaction from some leading members of the NEC has point to the fact that, there is a quiet struggle for power on factions lines where individuals power broker?s is been protected by some members of the executives and National Executive Committee (NEC). The general secretary of the party is struggling as the captain of the ship who needs the entire support of the grassroots, the executive and the top brands of the party to drive the ship to victory as the centre cannot hold.

However, the entire executive and some individual?s members of the executive are on a different tangent of working for personal interest and not for the love of the party. This posture and quiet agenda is really affecting the drive and smooth operations and activities of the party to make an impact in all issues of economic and political discourse more importantly on alternative that can make the potential voter to rout for the party come 2016 is missing in all communication of the party rather, just for the sake of headlines.

INDIVIDUAL ROLES

The NPP as party thoughts of rebranding and repositioning of the party to win power can now be described as personal and individual agenda to rally behind interest of friends and flag bearers of their choice and curiosity. Since the commencement of the assumption of the new executives of the party, it seems the new executive machinery cannot come out with a well defined roles and new dynamics that would unite and move the party forward to win power come 2016.

The media headlines of the misconduct of the party General Secretary announcement of new appointments of deputies communication officers paints a picture of internal power struggle on the lines of faction just to protect the interest of the Alan Kyremanteng and Nana Akufo Addo agenda that is playing out at the highest level of the national executive. How is it going to be for the executive to work freely without any confrontation from interest groups of the party?

If internal power struggle is now playing out into the public gallery with unreserved comments from leading members of the party and executives disassociating themselves from the action from the general secretary, then the party is likely going to find it very difficult to respond to emergency issues that would come out in the future. Right from the word go the role of the General Secretary is been undermine by the clicks and interest groups of Nana Addo at the national and regional level which is holding the entire executive into hostage to come out with plans and strategy to work as a team with cohesion for all party activities throughout the country.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

Politically my personal observation and listening to individuals and party supporters comments and sympathizers at a funeral at Nsawam on the 31st of May at Anno-Dompre’s late Dad?s funeral, MP for the area was politically incorrect. The clarion call for Nana Addo candidature for the 2014 Dec. primaries was simple sum up in ?No Nana no Vote?. Critically in examining damage control in correcting wrong public relations is just like nursing a new baby for the period of nine months.

The supporters in that constituency strictly believe that, without Nana Addo there is no NPP. How justify is this statement? Surprisingly the former flag bearer was responding to the cheers waving hand to ambience of noise and supports justifying the wrong PR that he is the only one leading the party.

The NPP has lost major elections as results of marginal votes. And the consequences of setting the record straight in the eyes of the party supports on how to win the marginal fragments of supporters from the other contestant was never thought of in any of their NPP primaries.

While fallout from the flag bearer ship primaries always send a signal for people to pack off from the national assignment right after they lost power at the party primary contest. This inertia always affects the national campaign since the party leadership of the party find it very difficult to mobilized the support of the fall outs, whose best aim is waiting for next election for another contest with the hope, saying l would came back.

Already my radial can confirm that there is NPP agenda for 2020? Who is behind this game? Is Nana strategically looking at the wrong PR signal, that?s always affects his chances of winning the marginal votes in all the two national elections he lost to the National Democratic Congress in 2008 and 2012. And if election were held today Nana Addo can win both the primary and the national presidential election outright. But then, election is not today so there is a need for all political parties to put the people first by finding solution to all alternative problems to teething problem affecting the country to make the country a better place for all of us. Ghanaians need nothing but a better Ghana for all.

God bless our home land Ghana.
