The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Patrick Timbilla has asked the New Patriotic Party to provide proof that they are being attacked in the Odododiodio constituency or stay silent.

The NPP at a news conference on Thursday claimed several of its members had been attacked in the Odododiodio constituency since the beginning of the Biometric Registration Exercise.

According to the party the police have failed to ensure the safety of its members, many of whom have sustained varying degrees of injuries from supposed NDC thugs.

The most recent of these attacks being that on Madam Ursula Owusu, NPP parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma South. Speaking on Citi Fm’s new political talk program – ‘Inside Politics’, DCOP Patrick Timbilla said the NPP must go beyond the radio interviews and report the cases of assault with evidence at a police station.

He said “in law, the issue is he who alleges must prove, so you have to submit statement that is formal. A doctor cannot be roaming and treating people. People who submit themselves are treated. She has reported anyway, she has now submitting her statement then we’d move from there.

“What I’m saying is that anybody who has reported and they are not doing anything about it should link up with me in my office. I’m at the regional head office, he should tell me the time and station, we’d cross check from the stations diary and we’d see what they are doing about it.”**
