Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress (APC), which has won the just-ended presidential election, has called on security agencies and all national institutions connected to April 11 elections to remain neutral.

Party’s spokesperson Lai Mohammed said in a statement reaching Xinhua on Tuesday that national institutions, such as the police, Civil Defense Corps, the military and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must shun partisanship, must discharge their duties dispassionately and professionally.
Mohammed said the party would no longer tolerate situations where security agencies and INEC collude with a political party to terrorize innocent citizens.
“We do not seek any unfair advantage over any other party. We do not seek any favors from any organization,” he said.
“All we demand is that national institutions that have any role to play in the forthcoming elections must carry out their duties fairly and professionally,” he added.
According to him, the forthcoming Governorship and House of Assembly elections provide the first real test for security agencies and INEC to depart from their old, unprofessional and highly partisan paths.
He said the electoral body should embrace professionalism and neutrality, because they will be the first elections to be held since Nigerians voted for change. Enditem
