Nigerian paramilitary to arrest black marketers over fuel Scarcity

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on Saturday said it has begun the arrest of illegal oil marketers in the wake of the lingering fuel scarcity in the country.
arrestedIn a statement reaching Xinhua in Lagos, the authority said it had directed the corps’ Anti-Vandal Squad to start the raid and arrest of all illegal oil dealers and black marketeers in line with the organization’s mandate.
All miscreants and those involved in hoarding of the product thereby causing artificial scarcity in order to sell at exorbitant prices should be arrested and prosecuted accordingly, the NSCDC statement added.
The exercise was aimed at ensuring sanity and availability of the product at all filling stations, the statement said.
According to the statement, the corps’ Anti-Vandal Squads had since commenced raiding of the illegal hide-outs of those involved in hoarding and diversion of the product and expressed optimism that things would soon return to normal.
Fuel scarcity has worsened in Nigeria’s economic hub of Lagos, as long queue of motorists disturbed the free flow of traffic in some minor and major roads. Enditem
