Nigerian paramilitary deploy more personnel for state polls

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on Thursday said it has deployed thousands of its personnel for Saturday’s gubernatorial and State House of Assembly election in 36 states of the federation. military
Ade Abolurin, the commandant-general of the corps, made the announcement in Abuja while handing down directives to states directors in addition to the earlier deployment made during the presidential election.
He warned against compromise or any activity that could label them as engaging in partisan politics.
He reiterated that efforts have been put in place by the Government to make the exercise smooth and hitch free, hence its deployment of personnel to every nooks and crannies of the state especially the identified flashpoints considered notorious and volatile.
The corps commandant assured the nation of the deployment of nothing less than 500 trained sniffer dogs, 300 operational vehicles, 100 surveillance vehicles and ambulances to further boost the security of the electorates, electoral official as well as sensitive and non-sensitive materials before, during and after the election.
