?The strike which was initially restricted to only States’ High Courts has extended to the Federal High Courts, Court of Appeal and even the apex Court of the land, Supreme Court of Nigeria which now have their gates under lock and key.

Workers, who had arrived for duty?on Thursday?morning were turned back and asked to return home by officials of JUSUN that were on?hand to enforce the strike.

Findings indicates that from Lagos to Abia, Kaduna to Jos and Oyo to Kwara states, the courts?have been securely shut.

Although, the Federal High Court in Abuja had embarked on its annual?vacation which started last week Monday, security men prevented lawyers and other visitors to the Courts from gaining access, a situation that forced some of the lawyers to loiter around the gates.

Judges of the Federal High Courts have proceeded on vacation, which commenced on Monday leaving behind two judges assigned to handle to civil matters during the period of the recess.

Vacation sitting by the two assigned judges was expected to kick start today but the strike would not permit the sitting.

JUSUN had on Friday last week commenced an indefinite nationwide strike toprotest the non-compliance by state governments with the?order of the court for financial autonomy and independence of the?judiciary.

National President of the Union, Marwan Adamu, had last week?in Abuja said the strike was the body?s last option to press home?its demands and vowed that until the Union?s demands were met, the industrial?action would continue.

However,?litigants, who are mainly affected by the judicial workers strike have continued to bemoan their ordeals as thedevelopment have seriously affected them.
