New FPSO vessel named after late President Mills

The new Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading Vessel (FPSO) being constructed by Tullow Ghana for the Tweneboa, Enyaera, Ntomme (TEN) oil exploration project has been named after late President John Evans Atta Mills.

Tullow GhanaThe new FPSO is being built in Singapore by Tullow Ghana and partners such as MODEC and Jurong Shipyard Limited.

Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Buah, Ghana?s Energy Minister, led a delegation to Singapore to inspect and name the facility.

They delegation included Mr. Charles Darku, the General Manager of Tullow, Mr. Theophilous Ahwireng, Chief Executive of Ghana Petroleum Commission, Mr. Alex Mould of GNPC, Mr. Victor Sunu-Attah, Chief Petroleum Engineer at GNPC, Mrs. Bernice Natue, Communication Manager at Tullow as well as other officials from the partnering companies.

The Energy Minister said the FSPO was named after the late President due to his honest and dedicated service to Ghana adding, ?Late President Mills stood for excellence and the new FPSO will deliver just that.?

He said the government was determined to make the oil resources a blessing more than a curse to the country and that the setting up of the Petroleum Commission, the Petroleum Management Revenue Act and the Local Content Bill were all geared towards that.

There are three Ghanaian Engineers working on the facility and the local content was also given a boost when some components of the facility was given to local contractors including Seaweld Engineering and MODEC.
