New university in Kafin-Hausa to get N3bn

The Jigawa Government has earmarked N3 billion to provide additional infrastructure at its new university in Kafin-Hausa.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Haruna Wakili, said on Monday in Dutse that the money had been captured in the 2013 budget.

Wakili said that the university would commence academic session in 2013, with four faculties, and has a 20-year development programme.

He named the faculties as those of Humanities, Education, Natural and Applied Sciences, as well as Management and Social Sciences.

The commissioner added that the university would provide necessary facilities to enable it commence studies in medicine and pharmaceutical sciences in the next five years.

“I believe that in 20 years to come, our university will achieve its full growth.

“The law establishing the university has already been passed by the state house of assembly and the state executive council has equally approved it.”
