The New Juaben Municipal Health Insurance Scheme, is organising special registration exercises for public institutions and other organised groups, to help reduce the pressure people go through to undertake the ongoing biometric registration coverage.wpid162586-wpid-Health-Insurance.jpg

Mr Charles Nkrumah, Municipal Head of the scheme told newsmen in Koforidua that, his office has at its disposal 15 machines for the exercise, which is being done during weekends.

He said the scheme has about 75,000 active members who renew their cards regularly, hence the need for the exercise.

Mr Nkrumah however expressed the need for the municipality to have extra machines to reduce the work load.

Despite the announcement by the National Health Insurance Authority that the registration centres, should give priority attention to children under five years, pregnant women and the elderly, a survey by Ghana News Agency indicated that, some of these listed persons sleep at the scheme?s office at night for days to get opportunity to register.
