It?s a collaboration between the firm and the Stephen Appiah Foundation (SAF), with all of the balls raw materials sourced locally.
At the launch, Nestle agreed to purchase 2,000 of the balls from next year for use at all of its juvenile football events.

The ball is named after the former Ghana captain Appiah who lead the Black Stars to two FIFA World Cups.
Appiah said, ??this little achievement did not come because I am Stephen Appiah, but it came because throughout my life as a young boy and as a footballer, I enjoyed the support of many people who came my way.
?Amongst these well-wishers and supporters were the underprivileged, some of whom walked many miles and used their little income and forget their enormous pain and disability to cheer us. This venture is one of many things I am already doing and hope to keep doing with my foundation.?

Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga assured SAF and Alive and kicking Company of government’s support to promote their product across the country and called on clubs to patronize the locally produced balls to impart the skills of the physically challenged.
The FIFA Centre for Hope located at Cape Coast, also bought 500 of the balls with other individuals also making purchases.

Chris Roe, CEO of Alive and Kicking said, the balls are made of the highest quality, and has passed the FIFA test to be used for all competitive matches.
Alive and Kicking produces 3,300 balls a month, including footballs, volleyballs, netballs, and rugby and has a work force of 36 including those with disabilities.
