NATIONAL YOUTH Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ludwig Akpene Hlodze has condemned the decision by the University of Ghana to ban political party activities on campus.

He has consequently demanded that the university authorities lift the ban with immediate effect

He believes banning politics out right on the nation?s premier university campus will not only badly affect the school but the country as a whole because that is where future leaders of the country are nurtured.

The University of Ghana has banned open air political activities including rallies, congresses and conventions on campus with immediate effect.

It is also against open air propagation of political messages through public address systems.

Addressing journalists in Accra, Mr. Hlodze, who is also Chairman of Inter-party Youth Committee, (IPYC) said the university?s decision will affect development of the country?s human resource base.

This he said is because the university serves as a nursing ground for many political ambitions adding ?the crop of leaders we have in the country today are all products of the university.?

He said youth leaders of the four major political parties with representatives in parliament are disappointed in the decision noting ?we are not going to relent on our efforts on this issue until it is resolved.?

?They have to tell us why they want to siphon young people?s initiatives to be trained and mentored as leaders of this country.?

He called on the association of vice-chancellors and civil society organizations to look into the issue.
