NANA ADDO Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be third-time lucky, if he leads the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as presidential candidate for the 2016 national polls, says Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, NPP General Secretary.

Sir John  flatly debunked speculations that Nana Akufo-Addo had quit active politics after failing to win the presidential seat on the ticket of the NPP during the 2008 and 2012 elections.

Nana Akufo-Addo while conceding defeat in the 2012 polls following the judgement of the Supreme Court, said he would take leave of politics to enable him decide his future due course.

Some people have misconstrued Nana Akufo-Addo?s statement to mean that the ace politician, who was Ghana?s Minister of Foreign Affairs, had quit politics for good.

Sir John, speaking to King Edward of Hello FM, said there was no iota of truth in reports that Nana Akufo-Addo had quit politics, hinting that the NPP guru would bounce back in style soon.

He explained that Nana Akufo-Addo was just taking a sabbatical leave after a hectic campaign for the presidency in 2012 which was followed by a long battle in the Supreme Court by the petitioners seeking to annul the results of the last polls.

The NPP General Secretary stated emphatically that Nana Akufo-Addo would return to active politics after staying away for just two months, noting that the NPPs presidential candidate for the last polls had not retired from politics.

?Nana Akufo-Addo will lead the NPP to electoral victory in 2016,? Sir John stated emphatically, adding that nothing could prevent Nana Akufo-Addo from becoming president in 2016.

He described Nana Akufo-Addo as a winnable candidate who stood a very good chance of becoming president in 2016   under an NPP administration..

He said Nana Akufo-Addo performed excellently in both elections which he led the NPP as the presidential candidate, noting that Nana Akufo-Addo could not win the 2008 and 2012 polls due to strange circumstances.

Sounding confident, Sir John said ?even if he sits in a wheelchair, Nana Akufo-Addo will soon become the president of Ghana in 2016,? debunking assertions that Nana Akufo-Addo would be old and not fit for the presidency by 2016.

Sir John said even the President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, who is far older than Nana Akufo-Addo, was still in active politics, stressing that age still favoured the NPP guru to become president.
