The Omanhen of the Kwamankese Traditional Area, Nana Idun Andoh the Tenth, has appealed to government and other stakeholders, to help upgrade the standards of education in the traditional Area.

He stated that chiefs of the area have realized that it was only through education of its youth that new talents could be groomed to ensure the future development of the traditional area, hence the appeal.

Nana Andoh made the appeal when he addressed a durbar of chiefs and people of the Kwamankese Traditional Area in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) District, to climax the celebration of this year?s ?Nkabomkese Afahye? over the weekend under the theme ?Upgrading Education in the Kwamankese Traditional Area?.

He, in this regard, appealed for teaching and learning materials such as text books, exercise books, pencils, pens, chalk and other stationery and office supplies for schools in the traditional area.

The Omanhen urged parents to give teachers in the area the maximum support, instead of harassing them in order to create an enabling environment to train and nurture their children.

The Omanhen, on investment opportunities, invited investors to invest in the traditional area?s natural Pigment Clay deposits which could be used for the manufacture of paints and distemper, in large quantities

He said the deposit covered an area of about 5,000,000 square feet and proven reserve of 2,600,000 tons of clay, and that if a factory exploited about 500,000 tons of clay material every year, the life of the deposits would last for over 40 years.

Nana Andoh, touching on the history of the festival, said the traditional area had been entangled in chieftaincy disputes as far back as 1914, and that when he was enstooled Omanhen in the year 2000, he realized it was only in unity that the traditional area could break the cycle of poverty and under-development.

He further said, to this end, there was the need to bring all the disputants together in the interest of peace, hence the institution two years ago, of the Nkabomkese Festival, which literally means ?great unity.?.

The President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs and Omanhen of the Abeadze-Dominase Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusie the Seventh, who presided, commended the traditional area for rekindling its unity since unity was the catalyst to success and development.

?We all yearn for development to lift our people from poverty to a more meaningful and quality of life, but we can only achieve it in a climate of peace through Justice,? he said.

He bemoaned the spate of accidents in the Central Region in the first quarter of the year, and called on road users, especially drivers and pedestrians, to be extra vigilant in order to save lives.

The AAK District Chief Executive, Mr William Atta Mends, pledged the assembly?s support in upgrading the standards of education in the traditional area through the continuous provision of necessary logistics under its educational plan.

Chiefs of the traditional area, in showing their commitment to upgrade standards of education in the traditional area, presented a cheque for GH?2,400.00 through the Afahye Planning Committee, for the payment of school fees covering the third term of two needy but brilliant Senior High School students from the area.
