During his recent campaign tour of the Western Region, Nana Akufo Addo had frank discussions with chiefs in Eastern Nzema about various subjects including the Atuabo harbour project.wpid-nana-addo-2.jpg

The chiefs were made up of mainly members of the Executive Committee of the Nzema East Traditional Council. The Omanhene of the area was also represented during the meeting which saw the chiefs congratulating Nana for his efforts so far.

They were quick to add that though they as chiefs do not do politics, they wished him well in his political endeavours, especially the October 18 polls.

They raised a number of issues during the engagement, among them the Atuabo harbour project in the Ellembelle District, a matter which is currently in court at the instance of MPs from the minority. Nana Akufo-Addo explained that he was not aware that the party had taken any position on the subject.

He assured the chiefs that there is no firm position against the construction of a harbour at Atuabo and that the resort to court is aimed at disabusing the minds of people about misperceptions that might have been triggered by the issue so far.

He pointed out that whoever initiated the court issue did so in his or her own right and sought to rely on a good law firm to prosecute it.

Continuing, Nana said that depending on the outcome of the election he would engage with stakeholders especially the chiefs on the subject.

He expressed gratitude to the chiefs for granting him audience gesture which they reciprocated.

The chiefs present were Nana A.B. Bokazo, Nana Eikwe, Nana Akoto, Nana Basake and Nana Anokyi. Supporting Nana Addo were one-time Ghana?s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, HE Rashid Bawa, the immediate past parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Kwasi Bonzo.
