Per Second News exclusively gathered that the Media accreditation and Liaison Unit (MALU) said that under the rules of engagement the News Agency of Nigeria has erred in its operation of the office space given to it free by the world body. The agency faces serious United States immigration repercussions with this new development.

The office has been under lock and key for the past 4 months according to Per Second news findings.

Per Second News gathered that the News Agency of Nigeria recalled its staff at the UN asking them to report to Abuja due to ?severe financial? troubles.

Top officials of the Agency did not take advantage of strong efforts by Ms Isabelle Broyer, head of the UN media unit to keep the office for the agency as they repeatedly said that the agency is broke under its new head, Mr Ima Niboro, a former spokesman for President Goodluck Jonathan, and now managing Director of NAN.

A recent audit obtained by Per Second News turned up problems with financial controls.? While existing staffs are being owed salaries the new boss has employed his close friends as directors and heads of departments over existing and senior employees, a source said on Tuesday. A source in Abuja said that, ?NAN?s financial condition is not that good, it can no longer sustain its offices around the world, neither can it retain such an amount of the permanent work force?.

Per Second News investigation shows that some staffs are being owed several months in salaries and bonus, while its crew in London and South Africa are having severe accommodation and financial issues.

Per Second News?gathered in Washington on Tuesday that complaints from some of the staffs abroad, especially in Europe and South Africa, have become more strident.

As a temporary measure, some of the staffs have resorted to other jobs and abandon their postings.

Speaking to Per Second News late Tuesday morning Ms Broyer confirmed that the office has been assigned to another country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was established on May 10, 1976, with the primary function of gathering, processing and distributing news about Nigeria to local and foreign news media. The Agency’s mandate is to present a complete, objective and impartial information, news or news material or features on any matter of public or national interest within and outside the federation.
