Nomadic education: Jigawa govt. earmarks N75m

The Jigawa Government said on Thursday that it had earmarked N75 million to boost the implementation of nomadic education programme in the state in 2013.

The Executive Secretary of the Nomadic Education Agency, Alhaji Ali Manu, said in Dutse that the amount would be used for the provision of school infrastructure and instructional materials.

He said that the amount would also be used for the provision of uniforms for the pupils and sponsorship of teacher development programmes.

He said the agency would establish additional schools to expand the scope of school enrolment and retention of pupils in the schools located in nomadic settlements across the state.

?In the 2013 fiscal year, the state government has earmarked the sum of N75 million for the nomadic education programme. Our programme is a continuous programme, we will continue putting all the structures in place as we used to do. This year; we planned to construct about 15 blocks of two-class rooms in various communities of the nomads. We will also continue to provide instructional materials to all our nomadic schools.?

According to him, the agency has worked out modalities for the provision of permanent structures in the schools.

He commended the state government for its support to the agency, adding that the gesture would ease access to quality education among the pastoralists in the state.
