Anyau, who has been an assistant with the Uganda Cranes and head coach of the U-20 Hippos before, was appointed U-23 head coach on Wednesday.

?I will consider it a promotion because my record as the U-20 coach still stands,? said Anyau.

The flamboyant tactician replaces George Ssimwogerere and his deputy Abdallah Mubiru.

Ssimwogerere currently coaches the Somalia national football team while Mubiru is busy preparing KCCA FC for the 2014 CAF Champions League.

Anyau will be deputised by former Cranes defender Phillip Obwiny.

FUFA Technical Committee Chairman Hamid Juma announced the appointments during the federation?s weekly press conference in Mengo. 100 players have been summoned to start training for 2016 Olympics qualifiers that are due to start later this year.

FUFA secure Wava FM

Meanwhile the federation has taken over Wava FM and renamed it FUFA radio. The federation did not disclose how much was spent on the radio station.

FUFA president Moses Magogo announced acquisition of the Ntinda based radio that currently covers a radius of approximately 80km around Kampala. He stated that the radio would promote and generate income for the federation.

Magogo pointed that FUFA would set up an independent management team for the radio. The radio offices will be shifted to FUFA House before the end of this week.
