MTN Ghana Foundation has partnered Joy FM to launch Season Two of the MTN/Joy FM Reading Club. The launch took place on the 11th of April 2014 at the premises of Joy FM in Kokomlemle.

Participants of this year?s project are from Awoshie, Kofi Koe-Amasaman, Burma Camp,Osu and Kanda Reading Clubs. The project will run from May till September 2014, when the grand reading clinic will be held at Joy FM.

The MTN/Joy FM Reading Club project is an educational initiative designedto rekindle interest in reading amongst basic school children and to establish reading clubs that would challenge students to develop more interest in reading. At the end of every week, the best readersfrom the participating clubs will meet at Joy FM studios to compete amongst themselves. The weekly winner will receive a writing kitand the monthly winner will receive a school bag and a writing kit. The ultimate winner for the competition will receive an all-expense paid educational trip and spending money.

Speaking about the project, the Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, Mrs Cynthia Lumor, said the MTN Foundation is interested in the Reading Project because education is one of the key focus areas of the MTN Foundation. ?Reading, as we all know, is a major component of education. Despite the advancements made in the world and the rapid digitization of our lives, reading still stands as one of the greatest gifts any person can give a child,? she said.

Some beneficiaries from Season One of the MTN /Joy FM Reading ClubProject were also given the opportunity to encourage participants of Season Two by sharing their experiences with the audience. The ultimate winner of Season One, Master Scot Quartey of the La Community Reading Club, used the opportunity to thank MTN and Joy FM for the life-changing impact in his life and that of his friends and community.

The MTN Foundation partnered with Joy FM in 2013 to organise the maiden edition of the MTN Joy FM Reading Club project, which saw Master Scot Quartey emerge as the ultimate winner.
