Mother to child transmission of HIV held in Winneba

Winneba, Jan. 17, GNA – Stakeholders at a-day?s workshop on National Strategic Planning Two Project at Winneba have appealed to the Effutu Municipal Assembly to support the Sub-Guarantee of the project to help Prevent Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV and HIV Stigma reduction in the area. The workshop organised by Assemblies of God Unisex Virgin?s Women Right Advocacy Institution, an NGO who also sub-guarantee for the project in the area, was sponsored by Hope for Future Generation, main guarantee of the project.

It was attended by stakeholders including HIV focal person, representatives of Ghana Health Service, Department of Social Welfare, Traditional Authorities, Zongo Community, Sheep Coordinator, National Youth Authority.

The workshop was among others aimed at ensuring that people in 30 communities in the area are well sensitized on PMTCT of HIV.

They also appealed to the main guarantee of the project to give regular technical support and release imputes/commodities on time to the sub-guarantee to ensure the success of the programme.

Mrs Martina Afetsrom, Project Coordinator of the NGO, took the participants through programmes to be carried out as stated in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Sub-Guarantee and the Main-Guarantee.

It includes educational programmes on HIV Stigma reduction, Family Planning Services, the project accounts, record keeping, transparency and reporting on time to the main guarantee of the project.
