Medeama chief executive James Essilfie will contest for the Western Regional FA Chairman position when nominations are opened, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The highly-respected football administrator will throw himself into the race to challenge incumbent Kojo Yankah during the polls later this year.

GHANAsoccernet.com understands that the affable Medeama chief is hugely popular in the Western region and touted as a genuine contender for the seat.

Incumbent Kojo Yankah has been accused of dereliction of duty and blamed for supervising the game?s stagnation in the oil region.

Essilfie has been credited for transforming the Tarkwa-based side since they gain promotion into the elite division, securing multiple sponsorship deals for the club.

Medeama has become an attractive brand and continues to attract top players to their fold as they boast of an enviable administrative module.

He holds a degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
