The 24-year-old suspect said the body parts were demanded for by a Ghanaian spiritualist
The Delta State Police command, on Sunday, arrested a man in Jesse for killing his eight-day-old step-daughter for ritual purposes.
The 24-year-old suspect, who is currently in police custody, confessed to the crime, saying he acted on the instruction of a Ghanaian spiritualist.
Speaking in Asaba, the state police spokesperson, Charles Muka, confirmed the incident.
?One Mrs. Gladys Emafuru of Okunu village, Jesse, reported that at 15:10 hours, while sleeping with her eight-day-old baby girl, the child?s stepfather (names withheld) walked into the apartment and killed the baby with a cutlass, opened the stomach and collected the intestines and other vital parts,? Muka said.
?The suspect, after collecting the vital parts of the baby, concealed them in a black cellophane bag and was about escaping to Ghana when he was caught. He has confessed committing the act, saying that it was demanded for in Ghana.?
