A man arrested over the defilement of a minor at Agogo in the Asante-Akim North District has been sentenced to 16 years imprisonment in hard labour by the Juaso circuit court presided over by Mr. Fredrick Tetteh.wpid-FG20Bans20Use20Of20Phones2C20Indecent20Dressing20In20Prisons.jpg
Kwame Karikari, an electrician, committed the crime in early November.
He reportedly kept the girl, 14, in his room for three days and repeatedly defiled her.
Karikari, a friend to the victim?s father, denied the offence. Detective Inspector Birikorang Peasah said the girl had been punished by the mother and this did not go down with her as she fled the house to an unknown place in protest.
Four days after she unceremoniously left the family house, the convict spotted her in the company of her friends, lured her to his room, and sexually abused for three days running.
The prosecution said the victim later returned to the mother and told her about her traumatic experience and a formal report was made to the police.
Doctors, who attended to the girl in a signed report, confirmed that she had indeed been defiled.
