Striker Mahatma Otoo has agreed to sign a new one-year deal at Hearts of Oak, according to reports in the Ghanaian media.

However the 21-year-old would be allowed to leave the club if an offer comes from abroad.

His current contract with Hearts runs out in August and could have left for free.

But Hearts have managed to talk him into signing a new one year deal at the club.

This means Hearts will receive something if he decides to leave the club at the end of the season.

Portuguese side Benfica who were habouring hopes of signing the former Ghana U23 captain on free transfer would now have to offer something to secure his services.

Several foreign clubs including Sundowns, Sunderland, Orlando Pirates, Lyon and several others have reportedly lined up deals to sign the local Black Stars striker who has scored 18 times in all competitions for the Phobians.

He is just 4 goals away from reaching his 20 goal target for the league season.
