The La-Nkwantanang Traditional Council on Thursday said it has released the contested piece of land at the Madina Zongo Junction to the Ga East Municipal Assembly after the courts ruled in its favor.

It explained that the release was to help ensure that the piece of land was developed into a recreational ground for use during political rallies and other social gatherings.

This was contained in a statement issued by Reverend E.D. Nikoi, Secretary to the Council saying “it had come to the attention of the Traditional Council, that an individual called Lillo, residing at Madina Zongo Junction, is falsely claiming ownership of the piece of land at the junction,” adding that the release was based on judgments from the courts, which confirmed its legal ownership.

The statement said the committee set up to investigate the riot by the youth of Madina Zongo, when the Baptist Church attempted to take over the piece of land, also concluded that the Chief and people of La-Nkwantanang are the true owners of the land.

The statement appealed to the people of La-Nkwantanang-Madina and its environs to treat with the contempt any letter or information communicated to them by any person claiming ownership of the piece of land.

It said “nobody should pay any money to anybody in relation to the land and that if anyone contests the ownership of the land, he should be immediately reported to the police”. GNA
