The Miss Ghana Foundation has donated items worth thousands of Ghana Cedi to the Leili Witch Camp in the Gushegu District of the Northern Region.Items including  bags of rice, millet, maize, drugs, beverages, clothing and some cooking ingredients were presented to the camp.

The team was terribly shocked at the condition of the alleged witches. ?This is one of the socio-cultural injustices of our system that needs to be addressed,? Miss Ghana 2012 Naa Okailey Shooter stated. ?I am hopeful something would be done about it?.

?We embarked on this trip to show some love to these alleged witches,? her Runner up Nadia Ntanhu said.

In a related development, the Foundation has cot sod for the construction of a bore hole for the Nabuli Witch Camp, also in the Gushegu District.

The sod-cutting was done by Shooter and Ntanu. They also pledged their support to build suitable shelter for the alleged witches in the medium term.

Present at the ceremony were high-ranking government officials of the district including the Assemblyman for Nabuli, Honourable Timothy Maliboag, Mr Jimba Mohammed, District Co-coordinating Director and Madam Rubabatu Ruby Osman, Community Development/ Gender Desk Officer.

Visibly touched by the gesture, the alleged witches thanked the Miss Ghana Foundation for their kind support, hoping they will fulfill the promises made.

An eye-opening yet heart-breaking working visit, the tour brought up the long age issue of how cases of alleged witches are handled by the larger Ghanaian society. Often, they (alleged witches) are left in abject penury; a situation the Foundation is keen on correcting.

The Miss Ghana Foundation?s Ambassadors, Miss Ghana 2012, Naa Okailey Shooter and her two runners up: Nadia Ntanu and Jennifer Annan helped in soliciting the items for both camps.

The Miss Ghana Foundation teams? working trip to Tamale was sponsored by Africa World Airlines (AWA), Promasidor, Tobinco, AZAR, IPMC, Edern Security, Decoplast, Somotex, Special Ice, TT Brothers and Kingdom Books.
