The House of Assembly conducts the day’s business in Igbo

Members of the Enugu House of Assembly, on Thursday, went all traditional by appearing clad in Igbo costumes and conducting the day’s business in Igbo Language.

The development follows a recent rule by the House to set aside one day in a month to conduct its business in vernacular.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Eugene Odo, commended the lawmakers for adopting the policy with vigour, adding that it is  aimed at reviving the Igbo language and culture which he noted was going into extinction.

He urged his colleagues to sustain the tempo by encouraging their constituents to imbibe the Igbo spirit of hard work, dedication and love for Igbo language with which the ethnic group was known and sustained.
