Central Bank Takes Steps To Strengthen Local Currency

The Kwahu Praso Rural Bank Ltd, one of the fastest growing banks in the Eastern Region made a net profit before tax of Gh? 169,234.57 during the 2013 financial year.

The Chairman of Board of Directors of the bank Mr. Eric Kwakye Darfour announced this at the banks 19th Annual General Meeting of the shareholders at Kwahu Praso over the weekend.

He said the bank’s investment increased from Gh?1,452,000 in 2012 to Gh?1,852,000 in 2013.
Mr. Darfour said the bank granted a total loans of Gh?1,396,100 in 2013 to its loyal customers to improved their businesses in areas of Agriculture, Trading, Education and Funeral.

He urged the shareholders to increased their share capital base of the bank.

The Area Manager of ARB Apex Bank Koforidua Branch Mr. Vicent Osei Tuffour who was the guest of honour commended the board, management and staff of the bank for their impressive performance.

He said Rural and Community Banks still have a lot more to do by way of organizational and operational transformation especially in the area of Infornmation and Communication Technology.

He said the rural and community banks must endeavour to build a good corporate image for themselves to ensure that their loyalty of customers are patronage of their products.

The Nifahene of Kwahu Traditional Area and Chief of OBO Nana Yeboah Afari Obuagyan II who chaired the function urged the people in the area to patronised the bank to enable them have access to loans to expands their businesses.
