A 62nd minute strike by substitute Dauda Mohammed catapulted Asante Kotoko to 1-0 victory over visiting Inter Allies in their First Capital Plus Premier League match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi, on Friday.

The goal came as a result of a defensive blunder on the part of Allies? Joseph Aidoo, and Mohammed who replaced Jordan Opoku took advantage of the situation to fetch the only goal for the defending champions.

The Porcupine Warriors, following their recent abysmal performances at home, attacked in droves right from the beginning, but were wasteful upfront as Ivorian import, Ahmed Toure, missed some glorious chances in succession.

Allies in the latter part of the first half came into the match strongly and nearly stunned Kotoko in the 44th minute as Niara Benogo almost connected home a Lord Ofosuhene in-swinger from a counter-attack, forcing goalkeeper Ofori Antwi to save the situation.

The second half was not all that eventful with most of the action concentrated in the midfield until substitute Mohammed broke the deadlock to separate the two sides.
