Juventus are pressing Ghana authorities to release Kwadwo Asamoah from the African Cup of Nations to play for them in the Champions League next week.

The Old Lady are desperate for their key play to be available for the first leg of their round of 16 Champions League matchup with Celtic.

The former Udinese man played 120 minutes in Ghana’s penalty shootout loss in the semi-finals to Burkina Faso on Wednesday night.

However, the Black Stars still must play Mali on Saturday in the third-place play-off, much to the chagrin of the Bianconeri.

Gazzetta dello Sport maintain that Juventus are now petitioning the Ghana Football Association to omit Asamoah from the squad for the consolation encounter in Port Elizabeth so that he will be available for the trip to Celtic Park.

Antonio Conte’s side will take on the Hoops on Tuesday February 12.
