The Chief Executive Officer [CEO] of Just One Day Mechanical Shop at Agona Swedru, Mr. Stephen Yaw Omare has said he intends to introduce a compulsory one year theorethical course in Diagnostic Automotive for all apprentices who are brought to his shop for training.

UntitledThe first of its kind in the town, Mr. Omare said when introduced, it will help the apprentice abreast themselves with the use of Automotive Diagnostic System-a modern computerized system for the detection of faults on vehicles now used worldwide which scans the engine of the vehicle, identifies it and displays the faults on a monitor.
He disclosed that before the invention and introduction of the Automotive Diagnostic System, mechanics used try and error methodology to trace faults in vehicles and in the process turn to create more faults on the vehicle which he said sometimes damages the engine of the vehicle.
According to him, the world keeps on advancing day after day because of technology, and has therefore advised mechanics to keep pace with the advancement by educating themselves on the use of the computerized system in their work, or will fade out from the mechanic profession in the near future.
Though he admitted that most apprentice mechanics cannot read or write, he however pointed out that that has culminated the idea of taking the apprentice through one year intensive training on the Automotive Diagnostic System before they do two years practical training.
