Jonathan commiserates with Ovie-Whiskey’s family

The president also extended his condolences to Ajimobi on the death of his mother

President Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday, conveyed condolences to the families of late Justice Victor Ovie-Whiskey and Alhaja Sikirat Ajumobi, mother of the Oyo State governor. 

Ovie-Whiskey, former Chairman of the defunct Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO) died on Wednesday.

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the President recalled Ovie-Whiskey?s contributions to the nation as a judge and Chairman of FEDECO.

He urged the family to take solace in the knowledge that the late judge lived a fulfilled life and left a worthy legacy of commendable service to the nation.

Jonathan said the deceased?s upright and conscientious management of Nigeria?s electoral process in very challenging times would stand to his eternal credit in the nation?s history.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased?s soul.

In a related development, the President also wrote to console the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, on the death of his mother, Alhaja Sikirat.

In the letter, Jonathan urged Ajimobi and members of his family to be consoled by Alhaja Ajimobi?s fulfilled life of service as a prominent trader, community leader and devout Muslim.

He prayed that God Almighty would grant Alhaja Ajimobi?s soul eternal rest.
