The Graphic Sports reports: The repercussions of divorce have compelled former Black Stars defender, John Mensah, to put up for sale his plush Trassaco Valley Estates mansion in Accra on the orders of an Accra High Court. The shocking sale of the state-of- the-art facility, and other properties belonging to Mensah and his wife Henrietta, are some of the fallouts from an agreement reached by the court following a divorce suit filed by the latter last October.

Proceeds from the sale of the house are to be shared equally between the couple. Graphic Sports investigations can also reveal that the initial $500,000 alimony demanded by former Mrs Mensah had been beaten down to GHC 150,000 during the protracted arbitration which eventually ended last January.

Henrietta and the four children who came out of the hitherto romantic 12-year marriage had just moved out of the Trassaco facility into a rented apartment of the lady?s choice at Adjiriganor in Accra said to have cost the former Lyon, Sunderland and Stade Rennes star a fortune.

According to sources, a misunderstanding had ensued between the lovely couple prior to the filing of the divorce papers by Henrietta, leading to the relocation of the Ghanaian international from his matrimonial home to his former house at Aplaku which he had earlier bequeathed to his mother and siblings.

John and his wife were married under Ordinance and, thus, by law were required to share equally all the properties acquired by them during the period the relationship lasted.

These included houses and plots of land in and around Accra, a beverage factory on the Kasoa- Bawjiase road and cars. The 31-year- old player was also tasked by the court to commit to a fixed monthly remittance for the upkeep of the children.

In the divorce suit, Henrietta, a former actress, accused the powerful defender of being a playboy who had neglected his family obligations. But in his defence, the player maintained that those accusations were baseless and unfounded.

Mensah, who was recuperating from a surgery at the 37 Military Hospital in the heat of the court proceedings, landed a loan deal with Slovakian top-flight club, FC Nitra, last week, boosting his chances of making a third consecutive World Cup appearance for Ghana in Brazil in June.
