JJ’s Party Is A Hoax

NATIONAL YOUTH Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ludwig Akpene Hlodze, has described as false, reports that NDC founder Jerry John Rawlings is quitting the ruling party to form a new party, National Democratic Party (NDP), ahead of the December polls.

He said though he was not privy to any information suggesting the Rawlingses were forming a new political party, “I don’t believe Mr. Rawlings will leave his own party to form a new one”.

Reports making the rounds indicated that the Rawlingses were on the brink of forming a political party by name NDP to contest the presidential elections in December.

Addressing the media in Kumasi on Thursday evening, Mr. Ludwig, a presidential aide at the Osu Castle, said he did not believe in rumours, therefore until Mr. Rawlings came out publicly to state he was forming a party, he would not believe such reports.

On the present relationship between Mr. Rawlings and President Atta Mills, Ludwig stated that “such issues are internal party matters and I will not comment on them publicly”.

As to whether Mr. Rawlings was considered important by the NDC with regard to campaigning, the youth leader noted that the former President was the founder of the NDC, and so far as he lived, he remains an important member of the party.

The NDC, Ludwig noted, still believed in the principles and ideals of the founder, stating that the ruling party still held Mr. Rawlings in high esteem and considered him very useful.

Ludwig, accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer, Kwaku Boahen, Francis Dodovi, and other party bigwigs, had earlier in the day toured some registration centers to observe what was going on.

He sternly cautioned political party agents at the registration centers to desist from causing false alarm which could lead to unnecessary tension and mayhem to destroy the national process.

Registering for people to vote in elections, he stated, should not generate troubles among the populace, and therefore prayed that the citizenry would abide by the laws of the land and allow the process to go on smoothly.
