Nikon regional head for sales and marketing Narendra Menon said the company, already in 29 African countries, planned to set up an assembling plant in Zimbabwe, which it viewed as having potential to contribute to the group’s performance in Africa.
“Zimbabwe is a good market looking from a pricing point. We feel the market may not be big but it will have a positive performance,” he said at the launch Tuesday.
Menon said the group’s entrance into Zimbabwe was through a phased approach where in the first phase it secured a partner in Solid Investments and was now looking at expanding the brand in the country.
Solid Visions Technologies business development manager Tendai Chingondo said Nikon will be the vendor while Solid Visions will be the distributor.
The company also has distributor partnerships for such brands such as Epson and Verbatim and will seek to capitalize on the Nikon brand to leverage on its growth, Chingondo said.
Nikon entered Africa three years ago and has since expanded to 29 countries. Enditem
